

KASHAYA - is a Herbal/Ayurvedic drink which has lots of health benefits. Each ingredients, that are used in Kashaya, have their own medicinal values.



There are lots of benefits of drinking Kashaya regularly. Some of them are:
Immunity booster
Best refreshing drink
Prevents common cold, sore throat, cough, allergys, etc.
Helps in digestive related problems
Below are the ingredients and method of preparing the Kashaya powder.
Coriander seeds - 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds - 1/4 cup
Fenugreek/Menthya seeds - 1 tbsp
Fennel/Sompu seeds - 2 tbsp
Black peppercorns - 2 tbsp
Nutmeg/jaikayi - 1
Cardamom/Yelakki - 4
Cloves/Lavanga - 8
Cinnamon/Chakke - small piece
Turmeric powder - 2 tsp
Dry Ginger crushed - 1 inch
Dry roast Coriander seeds, Cumin seeds, Fenugreek seeds, Fennel seeds, Black peppercorns on medium flame until slight change in color.
Then add Nutmeg, Cardmom, Cloves, Cinnamon and fry for few more time till nice aroma.
Switch of the flame let it cool completely.
Then grind to a fine powder adding Dry Ginger crused and Turmeric powder.
Store powder in airtight container once its cooled.
I generally prepare Kashaya in two different ways:
1) With Milk
Water - 1 cup
Kashaya Powder - 1 tsp
Jaggery - as required
Milk - as required
Add Water in a pan on a medium flame, add Kashaya Powder and Jaggery. Bring it to boil.
Then add Milk and stir it.
Boil for few more seconds and turn of the flame.
Strain and serve hot.
2) With Lemon
Water - 1 cup
Kashaya Powder - 1 tsp
Jaggery/Honey - as required
Lemon - Half
Add Water, Kashaya Powder, Jaggery, Lemon slice in pan and boil it on a medium flame.
If using honey, add it later, once you switch off the flame.
Strain and serve hot.
Tips:Add small piece of Amrutha Balli roots crushed while boiling, if available with you, because Amrutha Balli has its own medicinal benefits like boosting immunity and digestion, helpful in reducing diabetes, treats Arthritis and so on..
