Mandakki (Puffed Rice) Usli

This is a quick and easy recipe. This can be made for either breakfast or evening snacks. 

Puffed rice is low in calories and very healthy choice to satisfy cravings.

Mandakki (Puffed Rice) Usli
Ingredients:
  1. Mandakki (Puffed Rice) - 400 grams

  2. Water  - To soak mandakki (puffed rice)

  3. Oil - 2-3 tbsp

  4. Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp 

  5. Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp

  6. Gram Dal - 2 tbsp

  7. Green Chilly Paste - 1 tbsp

  8. Curry Leaves - Few

  9. Medium Onions (finely chopped) - 2 - 3

  10. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp

  11. Garam Masala Powder/Chicken Masala Powder - 1 tsp

  12. Salt

  13. Coriander Leaves (finely chopped) - 2 tbsp

  14. Grated Coconut - 1 tbsp 

  15. Half Lemon Juice

Mandakki (Puffed Rice) Usli
Method:
  1. Take water in a container and pour Puffed Rice into it. Let it soak for about a minute.

  2. After one minute, squeeze the water from puffed rice and keep it in a seperate container.

  3. Heat Oil in kadai.

  4. Add Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Gram Dal and fry till mustard seeds splutters.

  5. Add Green Chilly Paste and few Curry Leaves  and fry for some time.

  6. Add Onions and fry till onions turns translucent in color. Do not over fry onion, it should be little raw and crunchy.

  7. Add Turmeric Powder, Salt, Garam Masala Powder or Chicken Masala Powder. Fry for some time.

  8. Next add in soaked puffed rice and mix well.

  9. Add Grated Coconut, Coriander Leaves and mix for few more seconds on low flame.

  10. Switch off the flame, add Lemon Juice and mix it.

  11. Serve hot with alu bhujia or any other mixture.


(adjust salt and spice according to your taste)
