Whole Masoor Dal

Masoor dal/dalitoy (generally made from Toor dal, here I used whole Masoor dal) is delicious and easy curry to make by giving Garlic seasoning. 

Simple and comfort food, goes well with hot steamed rice.

Whole Masoor Dal
Ingredients:
  1. Whole Masoor - 1/2 cup 

  2. Green Chillies - 3 (slit to half)

  3. Tomato - 1 (Chopped)

  4. Ginger - 1/2 inch (finely  chopped)

  5. Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)

  6. Grated Coconut- 2 tsp

  7. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp

  8. Salt


For Seasoning:

  1. Ghee - 1 tbsp

  2. Garlic Cloves - 15 - 20 (peeled and crushed)

Whole Masoor Dal
Method:
  1. Cook Whole Masoor in pressure cooker, adding sufficient water and Salt, until soft.

  2. Once done transfer to pot and mash it little.

  3. Can add water, as per the required consistency. 

  4. Add Tomatoes, Green Chillies, Ginger, Grated Coconut, Turmeric Powder.

  5. Place it on a medium flame and let it boil (keep stirring in between).

  6. Once boiled, add Coriander Leaves and mix it well. Let it cook for few more seconds.

  7. Switch off the flame.

  8. Finally, give it a hot tadka using Ghee and Garlic Cloves.

(Adjust the salt, green chillies and garlic cloves, according to taste)
